Freuchie’s watercourses and drainage ditches rose alarmingly fast yesterday due to the heavy rainfall on already saturated ground.
SEPA’s rainfall gauge at the Newton of Falkland recorded 32.6mm of rainfall in the 36 hours to 2pm today.
The weather pattern of the last few weeks has made at risk locations more vulnerable to flooding if this rain pattern continues over the coming weeks and through the winter months.
We’re currently arranging for the Scottish Flood Forum to visit an at risk property for a flood protection survey at the owner’s request. The sandbags they are currently using aren’t really an appropriate flood protection solution.
